Tech Horror Stories: When things go wrong

I was tasked to compact an Exchange database, I backed up the database, I thought it had a different extension -- compacted the production database, then deleted both the production and the backup with a del *.edb command, I stared at my monitor just realizing what I did. We came up with a hacky...

Electric Car Infrastructure UX Difficulties Are Ruining Electric Cars

A really excellent point that has been brought up before -- these proprietary apps, charger types, complication, large number of broken chargers -- they're killing the EV experience. Aging wheels brought this to light in this video:

What are the immediate benefits of HTTP/3?

At least in my opinion the benefits of HTTP/2 -> HTTP/3 is much less significant than the benefits we got from HTTP/1.1 -> HTTP/2 The main benefit is a reduction in overhead that we get with TCP/IP, but as far as I can tell, that's a minimal impact on most traffic, mobile on sketchy connections...

    Leaked DNDOne Weapon Functionality

Somewhat of a rumor at this point, but I was tossed this: Ohhh, a cool new weapon ability This is pretty normal, moved from a feat to a weapon ability, but I'm not a fan only two weapons can Cleave now... This is honestly an interesting improvement, I like it. Honestly hate this --...

    Tascam Model 12

It's been a long while since I've done Audio/Video/Lighting (used to be the go-to guy at my high school), and I swear it never easy -- though younger me would be mad jelly over something this fancy for our audio mixers -- our stuff was pretty basic.

    RSS feed

I'm going to tweak some settings tonight that should fix the RSS feed (and possibly some other stuff broken by the friendly URL rewrite... and follow the docs better), luckily my docker container makes this easy to do. Just not going to fiddle with it right now because of work/don't want to...

Bikeventure - Making a mobile VHF/UHF bicycle setup

Been slowly getting together a bike setup (also an excuse to test file uploads). Basically: Rear rack uses a bracket I got from Tower Electronics, just a normal SO-239 bracket Light nestles up against the bracket (Funny enough holding it in place until I can drill a second hole) HT is mounted...

So we're going to try this out...

There's been a lot of requests off and on in the past few years for a Devanooga Forum, so here it finally is! There's some benefits of a forum over Slack: Way more async - this allows people to not miss a thing while not being online 24/7 Actual threads - Slack and Discord thread support is...
